PIV measurement of turbulence over a streamwise preferential porous medium

This study examines the possibility of orthotropic porous medium whose streamwise permeability is larger than wall-normal to reduce turbulent friction inspired by recent numerical studies Rosti et al. (2018); G´omez-de Segura and Garc´ıa-Mayoral (2019). Because (2019) used Brinkman equation approximate flow in media, it uncertain that such media really friction. We make a layered medium, which satisfies drag reducing condition suggested (2019), carry out particle image velocimetry measurements square duct flows over examine reduction probability. From analyses obtained data, found on porous-wall nearly same as smooth-wall at Reb < 10000 tends increase > 10000.
